Alaska Airline: Building a Design System for The Design Team
Background
Alaska Airlines, a prominent airline company, has embarked on a journey to learn from the “Auro” design system used for consumer-facing Alaska digital properties but to also enhance that with semantic color patterns and more reusable components into a new design system for the employee facing digital properties across web and mobile platforms.

Role and Responsibilities
My role is to lead the development and refinement of a comprehensive design system that encompasses user interface components, patterns, and guidelines. I collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and align design system elements with overarching product goals. Through the creation of reusable UI components and adherence to established design principles, I ensure a consistent and harmonious visual language across digital products. Promoting accessibility standards, and documenting guidelines are integral aspects of my responsibilities. I communicate design decisions effectively, provide education on proper implementation, and iterate on components based on user feedback and evolving design trends. My focus is on creating a design system that not only enhances the user experience but also facilitates streamlined collaboration and scalability across diverse platforms and devices.
